Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Tax Staff/Senior with 1-4 years of public accounting experience to join their tax team. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who enjoys working directly with clients, and working on/managing multiple engagements while delivering high-quality tax services.
The Tax Staff/Senior will prepare and review tax returns, assist with tax planning, research complex tax issues, and serve as a key point of contact for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for:
- Individuals (Form 1040)
- Partnerships (Form 1065)
- S Corporations (Form 1120-S)
- C Corporations (Form 1120)
- Trusts and Estates (Form 1041)
- Prepare tax projections and planning strategies for business and individual clients.
- Research federal and state tax issues and communicate findings to managers and partners.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through timely and professional communication.
- Coordinate and manage multiple engagements to meet deadlines.
- Supervise, coach, and review the work of staff accountants.
- Assist with responding to IRS and state tax notices.
- Identify tax-saving opportunities and process improvements for clients.
- Participate in firm initiatives, training, and business development activities.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 1-4 years of recent public accounting tax experience.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state taxation.
- Experience preparing business and individual tax returns.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities during busy season.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and tax preparation software.
Preferred
- CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification.
- Experience with CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, UltraTax CS, GoSystem, or similar tax software.
- Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software.
- Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting a plus.
