Direct Admit Tax Partner – Boston MA – Leading CPA Firm
 

Our team is working with a leading CPA firm that is growing their practice in the Boston/Massachusetts market, looking to bring on a Tax Partner to lead their New England Alternative Investment Function. The ideal candidate will have significant experience serving private equity, hedge fund, venture capital, private credit, and other alternative asset managers, with a strong command of partnership taxation and flow-through structures. This individual will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the practice locally and nationally, while serving as a trusted advisor to sophisticated investment firms and their principals.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, lead, and develop a dedicated asset management tax team in the Boston market.

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain top talent, fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture.

  • Partner with firm leadership to drive strategic growth initiatives and market expansion efforts

  • Serve as lead relationship partner for private equity, hedge fund, venture capital, private credit, and other alternative investment clients.

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to expand presence in the Boston asset management market.

  • Identify cross-service opportunities and collaborate across tax, audit, and advisory teams to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Represent the firm at industry events and within professional networks to strengthen market visibility.

  • Provide oversight and review of complex partnership tax returns (Forms 1065), Schedules K-1, and related reporting.

  • Advise fund managers and principals on individual tax matters, including Form 1040 filings tied to partnership allocations and carried interest.

  • Oversee tax compliance for pass-through and flow-through entities, including tiered partnership structures and blocker corporations.

  • Guide clients through federal and multi-state tax issues, including apportionment, composite filings, and withholding requirements.

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of tax filings while maintaining strong internal quality control standards.

  • Advise clients on fund formation, structuring, and lifecycle planning.

  • Provide guidance on carried interest, management company structuring, and partner-level planning.

  • Support clients through IRS and state examinations when necessary.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting alternative asset managers and proactively communicate implications to clients.
     

Qualifications

  • CPA required; MST or LLM in Taxation preferred.

  • 12+ years of progressive tax experience, with a significant focus on alternative asset managers.

  • Demonstrated expertise in partnership taxation, including Forms 1065, K-1 reporting, and individual partner tax considerations.

  • Proven track record of leading teams and building a practice or market presence.

  • Strong business development capabilities and established relationships within the Boston asset management community.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts into practical business guidance.
