Tax Manager – Boston, MA – Private Equity
Our team is working with a leading private equity firm focused on small cap buyouts to hire a Tax Manager to their growing team. The Tax Manager to be responsible for all tax related functions of the firm, working closely with the Head of Finance and CAO along with our outsourced Tax and Legal counsel. This individual should have a deep understanding of partnership taxation and desire to own all aspects of management and reporting, along with management company, general partner tax and structuring.
Responsibilities:

Partnership Tax Reporting: Manage and oversee the tax compliance process over multiple funds along with co-invest and structuring vehicles. This includes estimated and final K-1 reporting, extensions and returns, notice review and tax payment processes, partner demographics management, reviewing and independently verifying all tax income calculations and allocations, and tracking our tax basis. Further, you will organize and track all operating company K-1s, liaising with our companies in reviewing and understanding the information reported.

Management Company & GP Tax Reporting: Manage and oversee the tax compliance for all our GP entities and management company. Preparing tax estimates and distributions to members. Tracking our tax basis and carry waterfalls closely working with our senior management team.

Internal and External Reporting: Provide internal estimates throughout the year for planning and forecasting purposes for funds, GPs and the management company. Work with Members’ tax preparers on personal estimates and returns. Liaise with LPs regarding tax questions and requests.

Compliance & Operations: You may have the opportunity to assist further in general compliance, operations and legal aspects of the firm consummate with experience and dedication to learning in these areas.
Qualifications:

4-6 years of relevant industry experience with a CPA earned, ideally a combination of “Big 4” experience in partnership tax along with more recent experience at a private equity or venture capital firm in tax or operations.

Strong foundation in Partnership taxation, including SALT and international (limited), and tax accounting allocations, along with basis tracking.

Some existing experience in legal structuring along with compliance and operations is a plus, and will have the opportunity to assist further over time in these areas

Strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to demonstrate attention to detail

Excellent time management skills

Ability to work in a startup culture and take on new challenges as needed

Tech savvy; ability to get up to speed quickly on new technologies and software
