Surgical Coordinator | Greater Boston, MA | $25-26/hr (2-month Contract-to-Hire)

Our client, a leading academic healthcare organization, is seeking a Surgical Coordinator to join their surgical services team for a 2-month contract with the potential to extend. This person will play a key role in coordinating and scheduling outpatient and applicable inpatient surgical procedures while ensuring a seamless experience for patients, providers, and clinical staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures, pre-operative appointments, and post-operative follow-up visits.

  • Communicate with patients, physicians, and clinical staff to ensure timely and accurate scheduling.

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain required pre-authorizations for procedures.

  • Collect and maintain required patient documentation, including physician orders, clinical information, and scheduling requests.

  • Monitor and maintain surgical schedules while proactively identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts.

  • Prepare and maintain weekly surgical logs and departmental reports.

  • Ensure patient preparation instructions and procedure information are distributed in advance of scheduled procedures.

  • Support incoming phone calls, scheduling requests, add-on cases, and patient inquiries.

  • Assist with front desk coverage and other administrative responsibilities as needed.

  • Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Previous medical scheduling or healthcare administrative experience preferred.

  • Experience working with insurance verification and pre-authorizations preferred

  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athena is a plus.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Comfortable working with patients, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

  • Able to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate scheduling challenges and develop effective solutions.

 

Salary: $25.39 – 26.63/hr
