Job Title: Senior Database Developer (Consultant)
Location: Hybrid, 3 days in Boston (Tues – Thurs)
Duration: 6 months

Manager Notes: This is a senior level role that will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing database solutions. The candidate must be local to Boston and the qualifications highlighted below are what the manager is looking for. This role is also expected to provide consulting services. Financial services experience is a plus and will most likely be prioritized. The interview process will include a virtual initial screening and the next round will most likely be in person.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Developer (Consultant) to join our team on a consulting basis. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL, with experience in CRIMS (Charles River Investment Management System) being a significant advantage. Familiarity with .Net/C# and reporting tools development (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a strong plus. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing database solutions while providing expert consulting services to support our clients’ business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Development & Optimization:
- Design, develop, and maintain complex database systems using Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL.
- Optimize database performance, including query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting.
- Consulting & Client Engagement:
- Collaborate with clients to gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into effective database solutions.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations on database architecture, performance tuning, and best practices.
- CRIMS Integration & Support:
- Work with CRIMS to integrate and manage investment management workflows and data.
- Support clients in leveraging CRIMS for their business needs.
- Reporting Tools Development:
- Develop and maintain reports using tools such as Tableau, Power BI to meet client reporting needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement custom reporting solutions.
- Technical Support & Documentation:
- Provide support for database-related issues, including debugging and resolving performance bottlenecks.
- Document database designs, processes, and procedures for client reference.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in database development with a strong focus on Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL.
- Hands-on experience with CRIMS (Charles River Investment Management System) or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience in developing and maintaining reports using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Crystal Reports.
- Familiarity with .Net/C# for application development and integration is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the financial services or investment management industry.
- Knowledge of ETL processes and tools.
- Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., Azure).
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
