Senior Property Accountant | 5–10+ Years | Commercial Real Estate

A well-established commercial real estate firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Property Accountant to manage all aspects of property-level accounting, support property management operations, and assist with budgeting and forecasting. This is a hands-on role with full ownership of accounting functions and visibility to leadership.

Compensation: $90,000–$120,000 base + bonus (up to 15%)

What You’ll Do:

  • Reconcile all bank statements (excluding payroll) with timely turnaround.

  • Record and track commissions, real estate escrow, recurring and annual journal entries, and OCI entries.

  • Maintain investment cost spreadsheets and assist with fixed asset database and depreciation.

  • Review P&L and balance sheet activity, and attend monthly property management reviews.

  • Collect Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and monitor lease expirations.

  • Support CAM and quarterly expense preparation, tenant collections, and MRI system operations.

  • Manage MRI budget and RF cycles; assist with lease scenario setups and budget closeouts.

Ideal Background:

  • 5–10+ years of commercial real estate accounting, with property-level experience required.

  • Proficiency with MRI software and fixed asset systems (Sage or equivalent).

  • Strong understanding of deferred leasing commissions, deferred financing fees, and complex journal entries.

  • Self-sufficient, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and collaboration.
