Senior Project Accountant – Galveston, TX (Onsite)
Our client, a rapidly growing organization delivering complex, high-impact construction and infrastructure projects, including work supporting federal government programs, is looking to add a Senior Project Accountant to their team. This person will play a key role in strengthening project accounting operations and grow into future leadership.
This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to the VP of Accounting and offers a clear path toward a Divisional Controller position as the organization continues to scale.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain project financials for federal contracts governed by FAR/DCMA (cost tracking, indirects, labor distributions, compliance)
• Prepare cost estimates, project forecasts, monthly financial reports, and variance analyses
• Manage billing and revenue recognition for contract deliverables and prepare project invoices
• Support audits and DCMA inquiries with schedules and documentation
• Implement and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls for project accounting
• Partner closely with project managers, contracts, operations, and payroll teams to support project performance
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience supporting project-based or government contracts
• Hands-on experience with FAR/DCMA requirements
• Strong cost accounting background including job costing and indirect allocations
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, data analysis)
Location: Galveston, TX (preferred on-site daily)
$95K – $125K base salary dependent on experience.
