Senior Finance Associate/Finance Manager (Hybrid Boston)
Our client is a leading Alternative Asset Management Firm in Boston and they are seeking a 3-7+ year accounting and finance professional to join their team! The title is flexible depending on experience level, targeting 3-5 years for a Senior Associate and 5-7+ years for a Finance Manager title. This role will pay between 115-150K base (depending on level and relevant experience).
Responsibilities
- Review fund NAVs, investor capital statements, and financial reports prepared by third-party administrators; oversee offshore teams to assign tasks, review outputs, and ensure timely completion of recurring workflows
- Validate fund-level expenses, fee calculations, performance allocations, and other key metrics
- Coordinate with administrators, auditors, and tax advisors to deliver reporting packages, audit materials, and regulatory filings on schedule
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, Investor Relations, and Investment teams to align accounting and operational processes
- Maintain internal fund data, dashboards, and workpapers to track capital activity, distributions, valuations, and related events
- Assist in reviewing capital call and distribution notices prior to investor delivery
- Support tracking of investment holdings, cash flows, and the analysis of complex restructurings such as amendments, forbearances, and recapitalizations
- Contribute to improving internal controls, procedures, and documentation related to fund operations
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional accounting or finance experience, including at least 2 years in public accounting or fund administration required
- Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree a plus
- CPA license or active progress toward certification strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly investment fund accounting and financial reporting
- Experience with various security types, including debt and structured products; exposure to private equity, hedge funds, or audit environments
- Familiarity with partnership accounting, complex fund structures, and basic U.S. tax considerations for investment funds
- Proficiency with accounting/trade systems (e.g., Investran, Geneva, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills; working knowledge of PowerPoint for reporting and presentations
