Senior Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric | Investment / Private Equity
NO 3rd party C2C candidates; no sponsorship; must be currently local to Boston, MA
A Boston-based investment organization (private markets + public strategies) is building out a modern enterprise data platform on Microsoft Fabric — and they need a senior data engineer who can actually architect it, not just wire pipelines. This is a full-time hybrid (3 days in office) role.
This team supports investment professionals, portfolio analytics, capital markets, investor reporting, and finance. The platform will power analytics, performance reporting, and future AI use cases across the firm.
If you’ve worked in asset management, private equity, credit, or multi-asset environments — this is directly aligned.
What You’d Own
-
Architecting a Fabric-first data platform (OneLake as the core foundation)
-
Designing Lakehouse and Warehouse standards that scale across investment data domains
-
Defining governance frameworks (quality, lineage, metadata, access)
-
Driving Power BI semantic modeling strategy (Direct Lake, performance, governance)
-
Translating investment workflows (portfolio data, capital activity, reporting cycles) into clean data architecture
-
Modernizing legacy Azure data patterns into Fabric-native designs
-
Acting as technical authority across internal and external engineering teams
-
Building critical components hands-on where it matters
This is not a “pipeline ticket” role. This is platform architecture inside a Microsoft-first environment.
What They’re Looking For
-
7+ years in data engineering / analytics engineering
-
Strong Microsoft Fabric experience (OneLake, Lakehouse, Pipelines, Spark)
-
Deep Power BI semantic modeling experience
-
Python + SQL in distributed environments
-
Enterprise-scale platform experience (not just individual projects)
-
Experience in investment / asset management / PE environments strongly preferred
Why This Is Interesting
-
High visibility across investment and portfolio teams
-
Greenfield influence within a Microsoft Fabric ecosystem
-
Platform-level ownership vs incremental maintenance
-
Opportunity to simplify and modernize complex Azure environments
Salary target $150-175K base + 20% bonus DOE
