Position: Senior Cloud Engineer (Hybrid/Boston)
Our client, a leading global private asset management firm based in Back Bay Boston, seeks a Senior Cloud Engineer for a full-time permanent role in a hybrid work environment (3 days on-site/2 remote). Ideal candidates possess 5-8 years of experience and will report to the Director of Cloud Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to and support enterprise Cloud strategy, standards, and best practices
- Manage and evolve AWS architecture to support growth and IT service delivery
- Support application migration to cloud infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business requirements
- Advocate for DevOps methodology and Agile project management adoption
- Provide expert-level design and engineering support for cloud projects
- Drive continual service improvement activities for cloud services
- Develop internal systems, processes, and best practices to enhance team productivity
- Participate in architectural discussions to ensure secure, cost-effective, and highly available cloud solutions
- Design and test disaster recovery and business continuity architectures
- Implement infrastructure automation using infrastructure as code principles
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- 5+ years of IT experience with 2+ years of AWS experience (Azure experience a plus)
- Solid proficiency in managing AWS services in a multi-account environment
- Proficiency in scripting with Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar languages
- Experience with orchestration and configuration management tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible
- Familiarity with infrastructure code generation using tools like Terragrunt
- Knowledge of Policy as Code implementation using tools like Sentinel
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
- Familiarity with GitOps and branching strategies
- Exposure to observability tooling such as Datadog, ELK, Grafana, or Prometheus
- Experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes orchestration
- Strong understanding of global networking topologies and zero-trust firewalling practices
- Passion for technology and willingness to learn new skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to translate technical direction into functional solutions
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team and manage multiple priorities
- Proven ability to investigate complex issues and drive them to completion
- Team-oriented with the ability to share information and collaborate effectively
