Staff Accountant
A growing real estate investment firm located in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This position will be responsible for the accounting operations for various aspects of the business including real estate development, construction, partnership accounting and financial reporting. This position will play a vital role in accounting for and supporting real estate transactions, debt management, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, daily transaction postings and more. This is a hybrid position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Review KPI’s and financial reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance

Assist in month end close processes

Complete balance sheet reconciliations

Ensure that appropriate controls and compliance processes are in place and being followed

Make recommendations for process improvements and automation opportunities

Prepare journal entries including “HUD” entries for all types of real estate transactions

Prepare planned and ad-hoc reports
Qualifications:

Four-year degree in accounting (experience can substitute a four-year degree)

2-3 years accounting experience (within homebuilding, construction or manufacturing industries a plus)

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Experience in recording accounting entries (accruals, prepaids) and creating journal entries

Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals

Advanced Microsoft Office skills required; high proficiency in Excel is a must.

Strong analytical skills.
