Payroll Manager – Boston, MA (Hybrid)

We are currently seeking candidates for a Payroll Manager role with a well-established financial services firm located in Boston, MA. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of multi-state U.S. payroll while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of payroll processing experience, including 3+ years of full-cycle payroll management experience. Experience with ADP payroll software is required.

This is a 6-month contract position paying between $50-$55/hour (depending on experience).

This role supports a hybrid work model, consisting of 3 days on-site in Boston, Massachusetts and 2 days remote/week.

Responsibilities:

  • Support end-to-end processing of biweekly U.S. payroll across multi-state, exempt, and non-exempt populations
  • Review payroll inputs for accuracy, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, timecards, and special earnings
  • Process off-cycle payrolls, corrections, and retroactive pay calculations
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain data integrity across ADP Portal, ADP Vantage, and Equifax Unemployment systems
  • Conduct reconciliations and audits to ensure payroll accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Process garnishments, levies, and other involuntary deductions
  • Support payroll tax reconciliations and coordination with ADP Tax
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and data analysis for internal stakeholders
  • Assist with system testing for payroll updates, enhancements, and regulatory changes
  • Document payroll procedures and support process improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum 3 years of full-cycle payroll management experience required
  • Experience with ADP payroll software required
  • Multi-state payroll experience required
  • CPP or FPC certification preferred
  • Familiarity with expatriate and international payroll tax guidelines a plus
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance, wage and hour laws, and general ledger entries as they relate to payroll
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent written and verbal communication skills
