New Product Design Engineer
Our global manufacturing client of electronic/mechanical instruments and devices is looking to add a New Product Design Engineer to their Boston, MA team who will play a lead technical role to develop product designs that meet customer requirements while minimizing production cost through effective utilization of our manufacturing capabilities and supplier base.
The Candidate will be responsible for:
- Production of manufacturing drawings and documentation.
- Maintain a high level of product and process awareness and take the initiative to implement design improvements that take advantage of manufacturing advancements as well as creative new ideas to reduce cost and improve performance.
- The ability to operate in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Assume design responsibility for existing products and provide technical project management for assigned projects.
- Provide technical support to Operations, Sales, Service, and Quality.
- Maintain design documentation in accordance with internal ISO 9001 procedures.
- Review and implement Engineering Change requests
- Provide design support to Sales/Marketing, R & D in pursuing new clients.
Qualifications:
- BS in an Engineering discipline, Mechanical strongly preferred
- 5+ years of industry experience in a manufacturing environment, specific experience in metal fabrication and electro-mechanical assembly preferred
- Proficient in CAD systems, ideally SolidWorks and AutoCAD 2D
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
- Able to demonstrate proficiency understanding the interaction of systems with mechanical, electrical, and electronic content
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
