Laboratory Operations Consultant
Our client, a global biomedical company focused on innovative breakthroughs in healthcare through the collection, processing, storage, and distribution of donor materials, is currently seeking a Procurement Consultant to join their team. This person will be responsible for the sourcing and purchasing of capital equipment and supplies for a new cord blood and stem cell processing/storage laboratory. This will be a part time project, with a duration of about 2-3 months.
Responsibilities:
- Identification of the necessary laboratory equipment for cord blood and stem cell processing services
- Sourcing and selection of the necessary laboratory consumables for a cord blood and stem cell processing laboratory in accordance with FDA regulations.
- Sourcing and selection of laboratory equipment, including the search and selection of suitable suppliers, in compliance with FDA regulations for Cord Blood Banks and laboratories.
- Laboratory infrastructure and space planning
- Management of procurement budgets and evaluation of supplier quotes based on competitiveness in quality, price and delivery.
Qualifications:
- Practical laboratory experience required
- Experience in the purchase and provision of capital equipment for cord blood and stem cell processing laboratories in compliance with FDA regulations, including 21 CFR PART 864
- Experience in the purchase and provision of consumables for cord blood processing and aphaeresis
- Strong knowledge of equipment used for processing cord blood in preparation for cryopreservation and future stem cell transplants.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate with vendors and negotiate contracts and favorable terms desirable
- Experience in the process of building out a lab and/or clean room and knowledge of the necessary regulations desirable
- Equipment validation experience desirable
- Experience with FACT, AABB, CLIA and other applicable regulations preferred
- Experience in laboratory building/space planning desired
