Interim VP of Finance & Accounting- Higher Education- Southeastern CT
We are seeking candidates for an Interim VP of Finance & Accounting with a highly ranked College in Southeastern, CT. This position will provide oversight and leadership in the areas of financial management, grants and contracts, planning and business operations including all areas within accounting, financial planning and enterprise risk management. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of finance experience within higher education preferably.
This is a 6+ month contract position that will pay $90-100/hr (depending on experience) within a 40 hour workweek. This position is required to be onsite 2 days/week.
Responsibilities:

Provide leadership to the accounting and financial planning functions including general accounting and financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, risk management, purchasing, payroll, audit, tax, treasury, debt, grants, and student accounts

Direct and coordinate accounting and financial planning operations and develop and implement automation improvements for the benefit of these areas and the College

Review and assess the business terms of all contracts, coordinating budget, insurance, tax and legal reviews and the review of all financial proposals including proposals for new programs and ventures

Oversee business operation functions, including insurance renewals and claims, risk management functions, procurement services, and budgeting

Oversee financial operations, providing leadership and coordination with auditors and tax advisors, and oversees external compliance and audits, including grants, tax, and retirement plan requirements

Coordinate the annual financial planning process for capital projects; consult with various constituencies to determine guidelines and program changes which may affect financial objectives

Provide data and support to the Vice President of Finance and Administration, and board regarding financial and capital planning

Prepare various special and complex reports and analyses for senior management setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions

Manage debt operations and bond issuance activities of the College

Responsible for reviewing and ensuring quality of all external financial reporting, including institutional surveys, financial statements, tax returns, and reports to the Board of Trustees and rating agencies
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related required

Graduate degree in business related field desirable

Higher Education experience is preferred

10+ years of finance and accounting experience required

Extensive background in business operations, financial reporting and analysis

Experience with financial systems; Banner preferred
