Interim Director, Infrastructure and Security
We are currently seeking candidates for an Interim Director of Infrastructure & Security located in Boston, MA. This is a hands-on position with an investment management firm reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer. This is a hybrid position requiring an on-site presence 3 days per week in the Boston office.
This role is paying up to $150 / hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and operate cloud infrastructure across Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, including network architecture, availability, and cost optimization
- Define and execute the firm’s cybersecurity strategy, embedding security into cloud and application architecture
- Lead identity and access management, zero-trust controls, endpoint security, and incident response readiness
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery for trading, research, and core business systems
- Act as primary point of contact for investor due diligence, audits, and security reviews (e.g., SOC 2 readiness)
- Manage infrastructure and security vendors; evaluate tools and platforms (build vs. buy)
- Partner with leadership to translate technical risk into clear business and investment impact
Qualifications
- 10+ years in infrastructure, cloud, and/or security leadership roles
- Deep hands-on experience designing and operating AWS and Azure environments
- Proven background in cloud security architecture, IAM, network security, and incident response
- Experience supporting financial services, investment management, or regulated environments strongly preferred
- Comfortable operating as both a strategic leader and a hands-on problem solver
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical teams and senior stakeholders
