Interim CFO – Mutual Funds – New York, NY
We are currently seeking candidates for an Interim CFO – Fund Administration position located in New York, NY 1014. The opportunity is with an industry leading investment management firm and the CFO will be responsible to for managing the firms ’40 Act Funds. The CFO will be responsible for product launches, offering regulatory and tax guidance, and driving regulatory reporting processes. This role will offer significant remote flexability.
This is a 6-9 month assignment that will pay $200/hr within a 40 hour work week.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of fund administration professionals, providing strategic direction and coaching.
- Manage New Product Launches including REITs and High Yield Municipal Mutual Funds
- Oversee the entire fund administration process, including: Subscription processing and redemptions
- Present annually the fund complex profitability to the Board of Directors
- Certify financial statements and control procedures to the SEC on Form N-CSR
- Dividend and capital gains distribution processing
- Regulatory reporting and filings (SEC, FINRA, etc.)
- Ensure strict adherence to all applicable regulations, including the Investment Company Act of 1940 (40 Act) and related SEC guidance.
- Partner with the investment management, compliance, and legal teams to ensure smooth fund operations and address any compliance issues.
- Implement and maintain efficient fund administration processes and controls, leveraging technology to streamline operations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with third-party service providers (custodians, auditors, etc.)
- Analyze and identify potential operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required).
- 10+ years of experience in fund administration, with a minimum of 5 years focused on 40 Act funds (required).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (highly preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of the Investment Company Act of 1940 (40 Act) and related SEC guidance.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a team of professionals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant financial and fund administration software.
