Head of Private Valuation – Stamford, CT
A leading global investment management firm is seeking a Head of Private Valuation to oversee and execute the valuation processes for private and complex securities across a diverse range of funds and accounts. This is a high-impact role responsible for driving valuation governance, supporting senior committees, and collaborating across key functions such as Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Portfolio Management.
This position will pay between $215,000-220,000 on a base.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and enhance the valuation framework for private instruments
- Perform independent valuations for a wide range of securities, including structured products, private equity, private credit, and other illiquid investments
- Conduct hands-on valuation calculations for private credit holdings
- Analyze market data (prices, yields, comps) to determine inputs for valuation models
- Prepare clear documentation of valuation procedures, assumptions, and conclusions for reporting and audits
- Coordinate with third-party valuation experts, pricing vendors, and auditors to ensure accuracy and robustness
- Support traditional investment valuation workflows
- Prepare materials and present valuation matters to senior committees, including Valuation Committees and Fund Boards
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- 7–10 years of experience preparing or auditing private security valuations
- 5+ years of hands-on private credit valuation experience
- CPA, CFA, or other relevant certifications considered a plus
- Deep knowledge of private credit instruments, structured debt, bank loans, and other illiquid securities
- Expertise in technical accounting standards and valuation methodologies for complex/private investments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with experience using Bloomberg and market data tool
