Fund Accounting Assistant Controller – PE – Boston – Hybrid
A leading Boston-based PE firm is seeking an Assistant Controller to support their accounting, reporting, and operational finance functions.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced fund accounting professional who enjoys working across various teams and is interested in driving automation and process improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting and financial reporting for private equity funds, co-investment vehicles, and continuation funds
- Oversee third-party fund administrators and quarterly/annual close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, partner capital accounts, and supporting schedules
- Manage capital calls, distributions, reserves, and investor reporting
- Support investment transaction accounting, treasury activities, and annual partnership audits
- Ensure compliance with partnership agreements, GAAP, and regulatory requirements
- Partner with tax, legal, investment, and finance teams on cross-functional initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows through automation, data analytics, and emerging AI technologies
- Strengthen financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA strongly preferred
- 6+ years of experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and partnership accounting
- Experience working with fund administrators, auditors, and investment professionals
- Familiarity with fund accounting systems and financial reporting platforms
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Interest in automation, data analytics, and AI-driven process improvement
