Accounting Manager – NYC Endowment
A global endowment located in NYC is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team. The Accounting Manager will be a key member of a small, collaborative team responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of the endowment and related entities. This is a hands-on role with broad exposure across accounting, audit, governance, and operational support.
Compensation: $160,000-180,000
Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Ensure reporting is maintained in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies
- Oversee and review third-party fund administrators and accounting providers
- Serve as primary liaison for audit and tax matters
- Coordinate audit committee materials, governance documentation, and meeting deliverables
- Identify financial reporting risks and recommend process improvements
- Support vendor management and operational initiatives
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Accounting
- CPA required
- 4+ years of relevant accounting experience (investment, fund, endowment, or financial services)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with systems such as QuickBooks, Dynamo, BNY, TPM/Caissa, or Private I is a plus
- Knowledge of asset allocation and alternative investments preferred
