Chief Building Engineer – South Florida
A South Florida-based real estate firm is looking for an experienced Chief Building Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operations of one of their commercial office properties. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for ensuring optimal building performance, life-safety compliance, tenant satisfaction, and the management of on-site engineering staff.
Compensation: $110,000–$115,000 plus bonus!
Key Responsibilities:

Manage and schedule the on-site engineering and facilities team to ensure smooth building operations.

Take full responsibility for all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, and critical infrastructure.

Oversee fire and life-safety systems, ensuring compliance with all regulations.

Conduct and supervise preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.

Monitor, maintain, and repair air conditioning systems, pumps, valves, piping, and building controls.

Respond to building incidents, assess root causes, and implement corrective actions.

Evaluate service requests and coordinate work with external vendors and contractors.

Recruit, train, and conduct performance evaluations for engineering staff.

Regularly inspect tenant areas and common spaces to maintain Class-A standards.

Manage tenant improvement projects and building upgrades, including contractor oversight and competitive bidding.

Ensure all operations comply with Department of Buildings and municipal regulations.
Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in commercial office or property management environments.

Demonstrated experience as a Chief Building Engineer or senior engineering leader.

Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Proficiency in designing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing building systems.

Construction knowledge to support building and tenant improvement projects.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

HVAC, ASME, EPA, or related certifications highly desired.
