Building Engineer – Commercial Office Property

A well-managed commercial office property is seeking a Building Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of all base building systems. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems operate efficiently and safely.

Compensation: $65,000–$75,000 + full benefits

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee operation, monitoring, and maintenance of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handlers, VAV systems, and controls
  • Troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems including lighting, panels, breakers, and emergency power
  • Inspect and repair plumbing systems, pumps, valves, and fixtures
  • Monitor and maintain building automation systems (BAS/BMS)
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules
  • Respond promptly to tenant service requests and work orders
  • Perform minor carpentry, drywall, painting, and general building repairs

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in commercial building maintenance or engineering
  • Strong commercial HVAC experience required (EPA Universal Certification preferred)
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Experience with BAS/BMS systems
  • Proficiency with maintenance management software (ANGUS preferred)
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
