Application Support Engineer – Financial Services – Boston, MA
We are currently conducting a search for an Application Support Engineer for a client of ours who is a leader in the financial services space. PLEASE NOTE: This candidate must be on-site in Boston, MA in a hybrid 3 days in office, 2 days remote.
Education:
· MIS or CIS undergraduate degree preferred
Responsibilities:
- The person will participate at various levels in broad variety of technology related initiatives from inception to implementation and support
- The person will triage support issues and data inquiries, and escalate to internal teams as needed
- This position will include producing documentation for known issues, onboarding support procedures for new applications, performing release management for non-proprietary applications, developing moderately complex reports, and working on firm-wide initiatives pertaining to the supported applications and related technology
- Monitor and triage jobs / system integrations
- Collaborate with internal and 3rd party vendors to drive resolution of prod support / app support items
- Triage production system issues
- Monitor and manage a support queue
- Document status and resolution of incidents and problems
- Perform data gathering tasks in support audit and regulatory filing activities
- Support system patching and application lifecycle process
- Participate in corporate / firm-wide technology initiatives
- Research and respond to data inquiries
- Assist with system access certification activities
- Assist with basic reporting and system automation efforts
- Assist with production software release activities
- Support business continuity / disaster recovery planning and testing efforts
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years’ experience in an application support or similar technical role. We are not looking for help desk candidates, we need candidates that have supported corporate applications and who have scripting experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
- Highly motivated individual, able to drive problem resolution from inception to closure
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in financial industry a plus
- Experience working in (and administrating) Windows Desktop and Server environment
- Intermediate Microsoft SQL skills
- Basic experience with scripting languages, including one or more of the following: JavaScript, VBscript, PowerShell
- Experience developing reports with an enterprise report development tool (i.e. SSRS, Tableau, Cognos)
- Experience with testing automation tools (i.e. QTP) a plus
