AP/Accounting Specialist (Part-Time)
We are currently seeking candidates for a part-time AP/Accounting Specialist opportunity with a biotech company based in Cambridge, MA. The AP/Accounting Specialist will support the Finance Department by managing vendor payments, processing bi-weekly payroll, assisting with month-end close, and maintaining accurate and audit-ready financial records. The ideal candidate will have prior AP or junior accounting experience, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

This is an 8+ month contract opportunity, paying $40–$45/hour (W2). This role offers 20–24 hours per week, with a preferred schedule of 3–5 hours per day, 4–5 days per week, and requires 1 day onsite weekly.

Responsibilities:
• Review, verify, and process vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness.
• Obtain internal approvals and match invoices to purchase orders and receivers.
• Enter invoice data into accounting software and maintain accurate records.
• Generate and analyze AP aging reports; prepare and process timely vendor payments.
• Reconcile vendor statements and communicate with vendors to resolve issues or answer questions.
• Process bi-weekly payroll through Paychex.
• Assist with month-end close, including cash reconciliation, preparing and posting journal entries, and reviewing employee expense reports.
• Support audits, 1099 filings, tax filings, and compliance reporting.
• Maintain organized, audit-ready financial documentation.
• Assist with expense reporting, vendor management, mail opening, and scanning invoices.
• Perform general financial office responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree or equivalent finance experience required.
• Experience in accounts payable or junior accounting preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic and ability to maintain confidentiality with financial and personal information.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
