Our client is a fast-growing consumer products company located North of Boston specializing in personal care products. They are a rapidly growing company with 70% projected growth in the coming year. They are scaling rapidly and seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead their finance operations. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and strategic support for their expansion. This role is fast tracked to move into a controller role within a year.
Position Overview
The Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, manage a small team, and partner with leadership to provide financial insights that drive decision-making. This role requires a hands-on professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and can balance tactical execution with strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and coordinate with external auditors.
- Maintain accurate general ledger and oversee account reconciliations.
- Operational Accounting
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and inventory accounting.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Oversee cash flow management and banking relationships.
- Strategic Support
- Provide financial analysis to support growth initiatives and product launches.
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Develop KPIs and dashboards to track performance and profitability.
- Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA a plus
- 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in consumer products, retail, or manufacturing industries strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
