Accounting Manager (Hybrid, 1X onsite, West Palm Beach, FL)
Our client is a successful energy company, located in the West Palm Beach area, and they are seeking a seasoned 5-10+ year accounting professional to join their team as an Accounting Manager.
Publicly traded company experience and people management experience is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, including succession planning and performance management
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation processes, ensuring accurate and timely GAAP-compliant reporting
- Review team deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and key performance indicators
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting processes
- Support regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with applicable state and federal requirements
- Partner with Technical Accounting on research and implementation of complex accounting matters
- Collaborate with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Regulatory, Shared Services, and Internal Audit teams to support reporting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives
- Drive improvements in financial systems and ERP utilization, including participation in system implementations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
- 7+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role
- Publicly traded company experience is mandatory
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance
- Experience in regulated industries such as energy or utilities preferred
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems
