Accounting Manager – Rhode Island – Onsite
A growing, multi-entity energy company is seeking an Accounting Manager to support financial operations across a large portfolio of affiliated entities. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader with strong construction or project-based accounting experience.
This role oversees general ledger and project/job cost accounting, cash management, consolidations, and team supervision. The role works closely with senior finance leadership.
Responsibilities:

Oversee general ledger operations across multiple entities, including month-end and year-end close

Supervise project and job cost accounting, including billing, WIP, retainage, and budget-to-actual tracking

Manage construction draw processes, including lien waivers, subcontractor compliance, and draw documentation

Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, vendor onboarding, and payment processing

Support treasury and cash management, including multi-bank environments, wires, and payment approvals

Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, amortization schedules, and proof-of-payment support

Assist with financial reporting and consolidations, including intercompany activity and elimination entries

Support tax compliance efforts and coordinate with external advisors as needed

Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring documentation readiness and control adherence

Own and enhance standard operating procedures and drive process improvements
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff through direct supervision and daily support
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA highly preferred

Experience in a multi-entity environment

Background in construction, development, energy, or asset management accounting is preferred

Understanding of job cost accounting, WIP, retainage, and draw cycles
-
People management experience with direct reports
