Accountant – Development & Operations (Hybrid – Boston, MA)

A leading, privately held real estate investment and development firm is seeking an Accountant to support a dynamic portfolio spanning multiple asset classes and development stages. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative team environment where accounting partners closely with development, construction, and property management to deliver best-in-class financial reporting and operational support.

This is a full time role offering a competitive base salary range of $70,000 – $90,000, plus discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly accounting activities including billing, collections, cash management, accounts payable coordination, and general ledger maintenance

  • Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting packages for ownership, lenders, and senior leadership, including reconciliations and income statement analysis

  • Support development, construction, and property management teams with financial reporting, forecasting, and budget analysis

  • Prepare development funding requisitions and assist with capital tracking

  • Complete annual CAM and real estate tax reconciliations

  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax reporting, GAAP financial reporting, and external audit coordination

  • Develop reporting templates and perform financial analysis using Excel and property/development accounting systems

  • Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and internal control initiatives

  • Support special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA a plus

  • 2–4+ years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate, development, or property accounting

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting

  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with property/development accounting systems (e.g., JD Edwards, Yardi, or similar) preferred
