Surgical Coordinator | Greater Boston, MA | $25-26/hr (2-month Contract-to-Hire)
Our client, a leading academic healthcare organization, is seeking a Surgical Coordinator to join their surgical services team for a 2-month contract with the potential to extend. This person will play a key role in coordinating and scheduling outpatient and applicable inpatient surgical procedures while ensuring a seamless experience for patients, providers, and clinical staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and schedule outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures, pre-operative appointments, and post-operative follow-up visits.

Communicate with patients, physicians, and clinical staff to ensure timely and accurate scheduling.

Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain required pre-authorizations for procedures.

Collect and maintain required patient documentation, including physician orders, clinical information, and scheduling requests.

Monitor and maintain surgical schedules while proactively identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts.

Prepare and maintain weekly surgical logs and departmental reports.

Ensure patient preparation instructions and procedure information are distributed in advance of scheduled procedures.

Support incoming phone calls, scheduling requests, add-on cases, and patient inquiries.

Assist with front desk coverage and other administrative responsibilities as needed.

Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Previous medical scheduling or healthcare administrative experience preferred.

Experience working with insurance verification and pre-authorizations preferred

Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athena is a plus.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Comfortable working with patients, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Able to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate scheduling challenges and develop effective solutions.
Salary: $25.39 – 26.63/hr
