Strategic Sourcing Manager – Boston, MA

We are seeking candidates for a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join a highly successful financial services firm located in Boston, MA. This position will join the firm’s Strategic Sourcing team and will serve as a subject matter expert across IT-related spend, with a primary focus on software, cybersecurity, and cloud solutions. The Sourcing Manager will lead complex sourcing initiatives, strategic negotiations, and contract engagements while partnering closely with Legal, IT Security, Procurement, and business stakeholders. This is a highly visible role requiring strong commercial judgment, negotiation expertise, and the ability to manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment.

This is a 6-month contract position that will pay $74-76/hr (depending on experience) within a 40-hour workweek. This position supports a hybrid work model in their Boston office. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead large and complex sourcing and negotiation initiatives, including scoping, commercial strategy, contract negotiations, and legal drafting.

  • Manage strategic negotiations representing approximately 50% of the role, with responsibility for delivering cost savings and favorable commercial outcomes.

  • Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities through contract renegotiations and strategic sourcing initiatives.

  • Support transactional sourcing teams in China and India with contract renewals valued at $1M+ annually.

  • Draft and negotiate Master License Agreements, Cloud Agreements, and other technology contracts in partnership with Legal.

  • Negotiate IT security schedules and requirements in collaboration with IT Security and Legal subject matter experts.

  • Develop, coordinate, and manage RFx and competitive bidding processes to optimize cost, service, and overall vendor value.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with global IT vendors and internal stakeholders.

  • Apply best practices across procurement, risk management, information security, and accounts payable processes.

  • Quickly learn and navigate end-to-end sourcing and procurement processes while adhering to established guidelines and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage multiple priorities and projects while operating effectively in a fast-paced and occasionally ambiguous environment.

  • Partner cross-functionally to influence stakeholders and drive sourcing strategies and business results.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 8–10+ years of strategic sourcing/procurement experience, with a strong focus on IT-related spend.

  • Demonstrated expertise with cloud software and technology sourcing.

  • Strong knowledge of the global IT vendor landscape and technology procurement practices.

  • Proven track record of delivering P&L savings and strategic cost-reduction initiatives.

  • Exceptional commercial and negotiation skills, with the ability to drive cost-effective outcomes.

  • Strong ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Understanding of best-in-class procurement, risk, information security, and payable processes.

  • Proven ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.

  • Highly adaptable and resilient, with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, complex, and ambiguous environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to navigate challenging situations diplomatically.

  • Excellent presentation skills and a strong attention to detail.
