Accounting Manager – Alternative Asset Management Firm | Boston, MA | $150K Base
A leading Boston-based alternative asset manager is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its growing finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a sophisticated investment platform supporting a diverse range of private market and alternative investment strategies.
The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience within fund accounting, fund administration, public accounting, or an alternative asset management environment, with strong knowledge of partnership accounting, private markets, and fund operations.
This role will play a key part in overseeing fund accounting processes, managing external service provider relationships, supporting investor reporting, and driving operational improvements across the finance organization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee fund accounting operations across a diverse portfolio of investment products and strategies
• Manage relationships with third-party fund administrators, auditors, banks, and other strategic partners
• Support internal shadow accounting processes and ensure accuracy of fund reporting and deliverables
• Coordinate NAVs, financial statements, investor reporting, audits, and regulatory filings
• Partner with investment, compliance, operations, and client relations teams on finance initiatives
• Support valuation processes, including valuation committee materials and investment reviews
• Assist with fund launches, budgeting, treasury activities, capital activity, and investor transactions
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance scalability and operational efficiency
Qualifications:
• 6+ years of experience in fund accounting, fund administration, public accounting, or alternative asset management
• Strong understanding of partnership accounting and private markets operations
• Experience managing fund administrators, audits, or outsourced accounting functions
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze large datasets
• Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• CPA preferred but not required
