Hybrid Technical Project Manager in Boston

Our client, a large Boston based investment manager, has an immediate need for a Technical Projects Manager to join their team for 6 months to start with the possibility of extension. The role requires the consultants to be onsite in Boston 3 days per week – Tuesday-Thursday.  

Manager Notes: The Project Manager will lead a critical transition project, moving services from one outsource provider to another. This senior-level role requires strong leadership, technical acumen, and financial services experience. The successful candidate will manage the full project lifecycle, drive strategy, and foster transparent communication among stakeholders. Candidates must be local to Boston with at least 5-10 years of experience, but a more tenured candidate is preferred.
Key Responsibilities

  • Working directly with the Technology team the project manager will have the following responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership: Direct and execute best-in-class technical projects, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships across global business divisions, championing team objectives.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop project scope, budgets, and communication plans; oversee resource allocation and resolve conflicts.
  • Execution & Oversight: Manage deliverables, monitor budgets, and ensure successful project completion using industry’s best practices.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, track, and escalate project risks and key decisions.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and report on metrics to measure project success; conduct lessons learned reviews.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a technical and project management expert, staying current on relevant technologies and practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of project management experience (10+ preferred), ideally in financial services.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects and vendor transitions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio, Teams).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and management skills; able to influence at all levels.
  • Experience managing operating and capital budgets.
  • PMP certification preferred.

  • Experience designing and delivering presentations/training to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated success in enterprise vendor migration initiatives.
