Senior Tax Associate, Real Estate
A leading real estate investment management firm based in Boston is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join their growing team. This firm specializes in industrial, retail, multifamily, office, and mixed-use properties. Reporting to the Tax Director, you will play a crucial role in the financial operations by managing tax compliance, reporting, and strategic planning initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Review all tax workpapers/returns related to Fund/Management company entities; including partnerships, REIT’s, and U.S. and Offshore Blocker Corporations
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for the firm’s real estate investment entities
- Manage the tax reporting process related to the Fund/Management company entities, including; filing of all tax returns, extensions and estimate payments to the tax authorities as well as the delivery of Schedule K-1/K-3, Form 1042, and Form 8804 to investors
- Coordinate with the Investor Relations team to collect and review non-U.S. investor tax documentation
- Collaborate with both Fund and Corporate Accounting teams to provide required information to Tax service providers
- Resolve Federal and state tax notices
- Assist with tax audits, responding to inquiries from tax authorities, and maintaining documentation to support tax filing
- Identify opportunities to streamline tax processes, enhance controls, and improve overall efficiency within the tax function
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree (MST) preferred
- 3+ years of experience in tax compliance, preferably within real estate investment management or public accounting
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws related to partnerships, corporations, and real estate investments
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them to business scenarios
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
