About the Company:
Our client, a well-respected real estate investment advisory firm located in Boston is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Portfolio Associate to join their team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Research & Portfolio Management, the Portfolio Analyst will assist with financial models, valuations and analysis of the firm's large real estate portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining projection models of real estate assets and portfolios using Excel, Argus Enterprise financial software and Yardi accounting system data, to aid in the quarterly valuation process
- Work with members from the Asset Management and Accounting teams to analyze and understand real estate market data in order to assist with the quarterly valuation process and other portfolio data requests
- Produce and present quarterly asset reviews/variance analyses for assets
- Coordinate, review and analyze quarterly third party appraisal reports
- Gather data and work with members from the Asset Management and Accounting teams to analyze and understand real estate market data to calculate and confirm quarterly valuations of properties. Use several valuation methods including income approach and sales comparable approach
- Work with the Asset Management team to monitor accurate model projections and assumptions
- Regularly review third party research data for historical and future trends
- Assist with gathering and maintaining data and spreadsheets for analytical projects produced for senior management, sales team, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or related degree
- 2+ years of related analytical experience with heavy emphasis on financial modeling using excel
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe and Outlook
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (building and maintaining financial models), discounted cash flow analysis and Argus Enterprise software
- Previous experience in the real estate industry with knowledge of real estate documentation (i.e. leases, mortgages, operating agreements, etc.)
- Real estate valuation/appraisal experience a plus
- Excellent analytical, qualitative and problem solving skills
