Medical Billing Specialist
Location: Hybrid – Remote
 Job Type: Full-time Contract to Hire
Rate: $31.53-$38.12 per hour based on experience

Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Specialist with in-depth knowledge of ICD-10 coding, CPT coding  and expertise in Epic and other medical billing systems. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring accurate and timely billing processes to maximize reimbursements and support revenue cycle management. Your role will involve working closely with clinical and administrative teams to maintain compliance with billing regulations and to enhance overall billing efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform accurate coding to process and submit medical claims.
  • Manage billing processes within Epic and other healthcare billing platforms.
  • Review patient bills, medical records, and other documents to ensure accuracy and completeness before submitting claims
  • Investigate denied claims and work with insurance companies to resolve issues promptly.
  • Provide billing support and training to staff to ensure consistent application of policies and coding accuracy.
  • Conduct audits of billing processes to maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrators to streamline billing workflows and improve payment cycles.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements:

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in medical billing and coding, with a focus on (CPT) codes, ICD-10 codes
  • Strong proficiency in Epic and familiarity with other billing software.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare billing practices, insurance policies, and revenue cycle management
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
