Manager of Data Science- Boston/NY/Hybrid
Our client is a Boston based Investment Management Firm that is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Science Manager to join their diverse, collaborative, and intellectually curious team. This role involves applying advanced analytics and statistical methods to enhance our investment strategies and operations. You will have the opportunity to make significant contributions by supporting private equity due diligence, portfolio value creation, and investment processes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a top-performing data science team.
- Apply advanced analytics to evaluate live investment opportunities, working collaboratively with portfolio company management teams to enhance business value.
- Source, incorporate, and analyze alternative datasets to support investment processes and drive innovation in our private equity business.
- Ensure a strong commitment to quantitative methods, algorithmic fairness, and data privacy across all aspects of the data analysis process.
- Collaborate effectively with deal teams, portfolio company management teams, and senior management at Bain Capital to underwrite investments, enhance operating efficiencies, and identify new value sources.
- Balance multiple projects efficiently and achieve goals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Promote a culture of transparency, integrity, and ethical use of data.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field from a top-tier institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a data science role, with at least 3 years in a leadership position, and a solid track record of success.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, and experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, big data platforms like Hadoop or Spark, and machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- A strong foundation in statistics and mathematics.
- Demonstrable experience in sourcing and incorporating alternative data sets into the data analysis process.
- Excellent skills in balancing multiple projects and achieving goals in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively translate technical outcomes to non-technical stakeholders.
- Prior experience in financial services or consulting, particularly private equity, is strongly preferred.
