Interim Controller – Manufacturing – Providence, RI

We are seeking candidates for an Interim Controller position with a successful food manufacturing company located South of Providence, RI. The Interim Controller will be hands on with helping the company close their books and well-versed in consolidations and working with multiple entities. 

This is a 2-month contract that will pay $80-100/hr (depending on experience) within a 40-hour workweek. This position is required to be onsite 3 days per week in their office. 

Responsibilities:

  • Present financial results, forecasts, and strategic initiatives during quarterly board meetings.

  • Lead all financial reporting, forecasting, and the annual budget process.

  • Manage treasury operations, business insurance, and employee benefit renewals.

  • Oversee bank debt management, including quarterly debt covenants and compliance schedules.

  • Supervise the annual financial audit and food safety certification process.

  • Develop and monitor company sales and operational KPIs.

  • Direct all aspects of accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, and pricing.

  • Manage the company’s ERP system and oversee IT-related activities.

  • Oversee specific operational areas, including repack operations, truck leases, monthly inventories, and repair and maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field

  • MBA or CPA preferred.

  • 10+  years of progressive financial leadership, including 5+ years in a Controllership role.

  • Demonstrated experience managing financial operations across multiple business units.

  • Strong expertise in manufacturing accounting; experience in the perishable goods industry is highly desirable.

  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills are a plus

  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance, accounting standards, and regulatory compliance.

  • Strategic thinker with the adaptability to handle tactical tasks as needed.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a talent for conveying complex financial data clearly.
