Interim Senior FP&A Consultant – Biotechnology- Boston, MA
We are seeking candidates for an Interim Senior FP&A Consultant to join a leading biotechnology research company located in Boston, MA. This position will work closely with the CFO to establish and the lead the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function within the company. This role will be instrumental in preparing the company for its IPO by providing critical financial insights, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring readiness for SEC filings. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in the biotech industry, including drafting the MD&A section for SEC filings, and a strong background in working with publicly traded companies.
This is a 4+ month contract that will pay $100-120/hr (depending on experience) within a 40-hour work week. Qualified candidates who are 100% remote, located in New England will be considered.
Responsibilities:
- FP&A Function Implementation: Design and implement a comprehensive FP&A framework, including processes, systems, and reporting structures, tailored to the needs of a pre-IPO biotech company.
- Pre-IPO Readiness: Collaborate with the CFO and other stakeholders to prepare the company for its IPO, including drafting the MD&A section for SEC filings, and ensuring all financial reporting meets regulatory standards.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts, providing detailed analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Cash Flow Forecasting: Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to ensure the company’s financial stability and support operational planning.
- Financial Reporting: Create and present detailed financial reports and dashboards to the executive team and board of directors, offering actionable insights and recommendations.
- Data Management: Utilize Excel, Intacct/Sage to analyze financial data, ensuring accuracy and integrity in all financial models and reports.
- Strategic Advisory: Act as a key financial advisor to the CFO, providing insights and recommendations to support the company’s strategic goals and growth initiatives.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with departments such as Accounting, Operations, and Legal to ensure alignment and consistency in financial planning and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- MBA or CPA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in FP&A, with a focus on the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Prior experience working at a publicly traded company is required.
- Proven experience in preparing for and supporting IPO processes, including writing the MD&A for SEC filings.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of Intacct/Sage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience in cash flow forecasting and budgeting is essential.
