Controller

Our client is a high-growth SaaS company that is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller with a CPA and 10+ years of experience, including a combination of Big 4 and SaaS/Software industry experience. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting, and team leadership. As a key member of the finance team, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, implementing best practices, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP. Ensure timely, accurate, and consistent reporting to internal leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Accounting Operations: Lead day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and billing processes. Ensure operational efficiency and compliance with company policies.
  • Financial Close & Compliance: Manage the month-end and year-end close processes. Work closely with the external auditors to ensure compliance with GAAP, as well as the preparation of financial statements and tax filings.
  • Technical Accounting: Provide guidance on technical accounting issues related to revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), stock-based compensation, and other SaaS-specific financial reporting topics.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance financial systems, processes, and controls. Implement best practices for scalability and automation as the company grows.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a growing finance and accounting team. Provide coaching, support, and development to ensure high performance and alignment with company objectives.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Partner with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes. Provide insights into financial performance and areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Certifications:

    • CPA required.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    • 10+ years of experience in accounting, finance, and financial reporting.
    • At least 5 years of experience in a SaaS or Software company, with a strong understanding of SaaS financial metrics
    • Prior experience in a Big 4 accounting firm is highly desirable.
    • Proven experience with US GAAP, ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), and ASC 842 (Leases).
    • Strong background in financial systems, ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar), and financial reporting tools.
