Collections Specialist – Downtown NYC

Located in Midtown, a leading manufacturer in the HVAC industry is seeking a Collections Specialist to join their growing team. The Collections Specialist will be responsible for managing and collecting outstanding payments from customers, ensuring that accounts receivable are kept up to date, and resolving any payment discrepancies or disputes. This role will offer a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite), up to $115,000 on a base, plus excellent benefits!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage the accounts receivable aging report, ensuring timely collection of overdue payments
  • Contact customers via phone, email, or letter to follow up on overdue accounts and ensure payment is received
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers to ensure timely and consistent payment practices
  • Resolve issues or disputes related to payments, including billing errors, delivery issues, or contract discrepancies
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and terms with customers when necessary
  • Assist in evaluating customer credit risk by reviewing credit applications, payment histories, and industry standards
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s credit policies and work with the sales team to manage credit limits for customers
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of all collection activities, payments, communications, and account statuses in the collections system.
  • Prepare and present periodic reports on account aging, collections performance, and
  • recovery rates.
  • Provide regular reports on the status of overdue accounts, trends in payments, and collection efforts to management

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in Collections, AR, or Credit Management preferably in manufacturing, construction, or HVAC industries
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
